Gladdy Wax Triumphs at Carnival 2007

28 August 2007

Thanks & Praise to all those who contributed in any way to delivering a great show in a one love vibe this year.

Great sets on day one from Tim & Steve of the Tighten Up crew with the mighty Champion, Andy Smith who laid down some revelicious sounds with MC Brother Culture on the mike and finally DJ Cello (Coast to Coast) who excelled this year with a lovely diverse set from his fine collection. All this despite technical problems with the system.

Day two saw Gladdy delivering one of the most inspiring sets I have heard from him. This is my personal view and is in no way just some promotional thing. Trust me, you had to be there; it can't be repeated, so what's to promote?

We did promote up and comming DJ Tuggy Tuggy (the Hackney White Boy) who did a brief appearance to promote his new album.

We where fortunate to be joined by a great DJ, Constant Jammin who just happened along to support us and lit up the crowd with his perfectly timed meditations upon the Ska rhythm. For my money the best Ska MC I have heard live. Great on the Roots too.

Lumba (King Melody), as always, presented in fine style from his mighty collection which spans every epoch (love also to Maxine for keeping everything nice). The man also laboured hard to put those heavy heavy boxes away at the end of the show, so not someone to sit back and just think he is a high and mighty artist.

Thanks again to all artists, sound crew (big up Franz Job, the Eclectic Country Boy -check him out ), the catering crew (love to sister Paulette), Colins for the juice (and everything else) and of course all our friends for their support. Thanks to Greensleeves Records for their sponsorship of this year's appearance.

Don't foget to join Gladdy and the full Tighten Up Crew for the after Canival show on Saturday. See link above for details.

If you're technically-minded and want to contribute to the site, why not join our reggaeunlimited group at Flickr. We'd love to include your photos from carnival.
